ARTIST STATEMENT
Marks in Time incorporates paper staining through the use of silk screen printing, Chinese Ink and Chinese Tea on ink wash papers. To complete the artworks I have layered papers, sliced and folded the silk screen papers to create ‘unique’ state works. Tea stained paper is also multi layered over ink stained papers onto stretched canvas. Passing time is significant in the creation of the artworks as time is required for drying of ink, paint, tea, glue and lacquer. The mark making process is time consuming due to freezing ink, boiling tea and exposure of light sensitive emulsion on screens. Please enjoy the subtlety and detail within the works.
