Artist Denise Keele-bedford Portrait

I am an Australian artist based at Stony Creek Studio. Between 2005 and 2019 I maintained a work studio at Huanghua Studio in Beijing China. In 2020 I transferred the studio to Warrandyte and translated the Chinese name into English as Yellow Flower Studio.

I continue to participate in group and invitational exhibitions. In 2022, with colleagues Wayne Rankin and Jane Annois, I established Warrandyte Artisans Inc.

A major influence on my art practice is history, being a combination of long and short-term collective events, rituals, or personal memories.

Interests include diversity of cultures and environments, particularly customs within personal and cultural belief systems. My conceptual based production includes multiples that form a series or a single artwork.

I utilise a wide variety of media. Passionate about installation, print making and recycling preloved items, my installations, site-specific works, and individual artworks include materials such as textiles, paper, organic elements, found objects, ceramic, glass, and marble.

International artist residencies, exhibition curatorship and cultural exchange projects have extensively broadened my career.
