A brief overview by Denise Keele-bedford

The Arts and Warrandyte have formed an intimate relationship with roots established in the 1890’s when artists travelled, painted, and dwelled beside the Yarra River. The arts in an abundance of disciplines have ever expanded during the 135 years to today.

“And in recognition of the numbers who continue to settle around the Yarra/Birrarung, three of the district’s most influential contemporary practitioners recently inaugurated an artisan collective with the charter of giving members a forum for regular pop-up and group exhibitions, and to provide encouragement for makers in the early stages of establishing their studios.

In 2022 Warrandyte Artisans was set up by ceramicist Jane Annois (who started the phenomenally popular annual Warrandyte Pottery Expo), Wayne Rankin (a master of graphic arts currently exploring glass making), and Denise Keele-bedford, (a prolific multi-media cultural explorer who works internationally).”

Warrandyte Artisans Inc. were able to keep the flow of ‘showing off’ artists’ talents in the 2024 Warrandyte Artisans on Show exhibition, in conjunction with the Warrandyte Festival, when it became too challenging for Rotary Club of Warrandyte Donvale to hold an art show.

With over three decades of art shows under their belt, Rotary continue the well-loved Art Show, supported by Warrandyte Artisans Inc. Off The Wall is a refreshing shift and inclusive of all that the visual arts means to this region. Visitors to the Rotary Art Show have the unique opportunity to experience both 2D and 3D artworks under one roof and on one weekend.

Warrandyte Artisans Inc. Pop-up exhibitions feature artists and art studios who are currently practising in the Warrandyte region.
